Vernaculator Turns Kids' Memes Into Real Books, Making Young Students Published Authors
The animated talking meme generator from ShareWeaver LLC teaches big words and true guiding principles, then publishes kids' stories on Amazon. Arkansas classrooms start a pilot next week.
Ask a kid how school went and you'll usually hear one word: "Fine." Vernaculator wants to change that answer. The new app, live at vernaculator.app, lets kids write funny talking memes in the voices of cartoon characters, learn new words while they do it, and then turn those memes into a real talking picture book, published on Amazon with the young author's name on the cover.
From a meme to a book on the shelf
Vernaculator is a talking meme generator with a cast of more than 100 cartoon characters, from a pirate and a mouse to Big Sal, the warm-hearted star of the Big Sal's World cartoon. A kid types what they want to say, picks a character, and hears it spoken back in that character's voice and style, with new and fancy words picked for their grade level.
With Create Your Own Book, those memes become pages. When a kid has enough pages, a cartoon writing algorithm suggests the best order, a title and ideas for more pages. It works from the kid's own ideas and never replaces their words with its own. The finished book:
- Reads itself aloud. Every page plays in its character's voice, with each word lighting up as it's spoken.
- Belongs to the family. Families download a talking e-book that works in Apple Books and other readers, plus a Kindle copy, and can put the book on their own website.
- Can become a real paperback. Vernaculator publishes it on Amazon under its Big Sal's World Books imprint, with the young author's name and photo on the cover. The family receives 90% of the royalties.

Built for classrooms, starting in Arkansas
Teachers use Vernaculator free. Students join with a class PIN and no accounts, names or email addresses. The week of November 2, 2026, Sergio Alcantara meets with Arkansas schools to launch the pilot and begin collecting classroom data. Schools anywhere that would like to take part can write to [email protected]. The classroom tools include:
- A daily good-news story. Each school gets its own Town Square. The teacher posts one positive story a day, local when there is one and national when there isn't, and every student answers it with a talking meme. Nothing appears until the teacher approves it.
- A class book. The teacher collects the best memes, voices included, into a class book the school can publish on Amazon under the class name, with 90% of the royalties going to the school.
- A semester story for extra credit. Each student writes their own hero's journey: a challenge, the courage, adaptability and discipline to face it, and coming home proud. Students are known only by a story code, never by name.
- Words at every level. Teachers set a grade from kindergarten through college, or paste their own vocabulary list, and every character uses those words.
Big words instead of insults

Every character is built around one of 14 true guiding principles and values, including integrity, courage, empathy, gratitude, perseverance and love. Each character has a positive side and a reason for the way it talks. The goal is a classroom where kids laugh with each other, not at each other. Everything on Vernaculator is PG. There's no swearing, no ads, and nothing students post goes public until a grown-up approves it.
