Your kid writes it. Our characters say it. You hold a real book.
How it works
- Start a book for each kid. A grown-up starts it, picks the true guiding principle the story teaches, and gets the book's own link for the kid to use on any phone, tablet or computer. No account for the kid.
- Make it one meme at a time. On each page your kid picks a character and says what happens. Our AI helps say it in that character's voice, and the page gets the character's real voice. Your kid can change the words, try again, or redo it.
- Turn the pages into a story. Put the pages in order, or tap Make it a story and our cartoon writing algorithm suggests an order, a title, the back-cover words and a few ideas for pages to add. It never rewrites your kid's pages.
- Keep your own e-book. Download it to keep, free: a talking e-book where the characters read it aloud with every word lighting up (Apple Books and other e-book readers), plus a Kindle-compatible copy. Read it on any device, share it with family, or put it on your own website.
- Read it, share it, and we publish it. The book also reads itself aloud right here, like our Big Sal's World books. Share the reading link with grandma. When it's done, we publish it on Amazon for you as a real paperback or hardcover, with your kid's first name and last initial (or a pen name) as the author, and do all the bookkeeping. For your kid's safety, we never put a child's photo, full name, age or school on a book. Anyone who buys a printed copy earns you 80% of the royalties, paid every three months.
What your $10 gets you:
- A talking, animated e-book from day one, with every page read aloud in the characters' real voices.
- Your kid's work, published. We put the book on Amazon with your kid's first name and last initial (or a pen name) on the cover as the author, and set you up to collect the royalties.
You never have to buy the paperback or hardcover. It's there for grandma, the school library, or a future fan. When someone buys one, you get 80% of the royalties.
As big as you like: every 25 more pages is another $10. That's 50 pages for $20, 75 pages for $30, and so on. Add pages any time.

- An e-book to keep (a talking e-book with the voices, plus a Kindle-compatible copy), read-along on our site forever, a link to share with family, and we publish the paperback on Amazon for you.
For members ($1 a year, 18+). The grown-up who starts the book pays with tokens from their account. If a kid uses up the included tries, extras come from that account at normal token prices, up to 300 tokens per book, never more. All sales are final. Books are private: only people with the book's link can see it, until we publish it.

Books families asked us to publish. Print the inside pages and cover, publish on the Big Sal's World KDP account, then mark it published with the Amazon link. Royalties: 80% (class books 90%) to the payout email (Stripe Connect), every three months.
🪪 Quick grown-up ID check
Grown-up author books can tell faith stories and never go into schools, so they're for adults 18 and older. Before your first one, take a quick photo of your ID and a selfie on our verification provider's secure page. It takes about two minutes. We never see or keep your ID: we only learn that you're 18 or older.

🎉 Read it and share it
The reading link only reads the book, so it's safe to share with family. The edit link changes the book, so keep it for the author.
🍎 Show it on your kid's teacher's page
If your kid's teacher has a Vernaculator page, the book can go on their class bookshelf. It shows the title, the author name and your kid's cartoon avatar, never a photo. The teacher approves it first, and you can take it off any time.

Download your book to keep. It's yours to read and share with family and friends, on any device.
The talking e-book (EPUB) plays the characters' voices and lights up each word in Apple Books or the free Thorium Reader. Kindle books can't play sound, so the Kindle version has the pictures and words; send it to your Kindle at amazon.com/sendtokindle. Every e-book says "Made by Vernaculator" with a link to us. The printed book is only sold through Big Sal's World Books on Amazon (see below).

When your class book is done (at least 10 pages), send it to us. We publish it on Amazon as a real 8.5 x 8.5 paperback under our Big Sal's World books, with your class or school name as the author (never students' names or photos). Your school gets 90% of the royalties, paid every three months through Stripe; we keep 10% for publishing it. Families can buy a copy of the book their kids made.
When your book is done (at least 10 pages), send it to us. We publish it on Amazon as a real 8.5 x 8.5 paperback under our Big Sal's World books, with your kid's first name and last initial (or a pen name) as the author, and we take care of the printing setup, the listing and all the bookkeeping. This is already covered by what you paid, and you never have to buy a printed copy yourself.
- You get 80% of the royalties Amazon pays for printed copies of your book. We keep 20% for publishing it and handling the accounting.
- Paid every three months straight to your bank account through Stripe. Small amounts (under $10) roll over to the next payment.
- Anyone can buy it on Amazon: grandparents, cousins, the whole class.
Only the grown-up who started the book can send it, on their own phone or computer.
For your kid's safety we never put a child's photo on a book, so let them make their own cartoon, like in their favorite games.
